Developed through the collaboration of Erciyes University and the Ministry of Health’s Turkey Health Institutes Presidency (TÜSEB), TURKOVAC received emergency use authorization on December 22, 2021, following the completion of Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3 trials.
Production began on the same day, and the domestically produced vaccine was quickly made widely available, making Turkey one of only nine countries in the world capable of producing its own COVID-19 vaccine. During this process, various clinical studies were also initiated to evaluate TURKOVAC’s effectiveness as a primary vaccine, booster dose, and in children and adolescents.
