Prof. Dr. Aykut Özdarendeli, Director of Erciyes University Vaccine Research and Development Center (ERAGEM), announced that the full-length genome of the isolated SARS-CoV-2 virus was sequenced using next-generation technology, enabling the creation of its genetic map.

According to a written statement from Erciyes University, Özdarendeli—one of the two scientists in Turkey who successfully isolated the virus and actively involved in scientific studies against the COVID-19 pandemic—reported that they have published the genetic map on the global platform where SARS-CoV-2 genome sequences are shared under the code "EPI_ISL_424366." Furthermore, the complete viral genome obtained has been registered in the GenBank genetic database with the accession number "#2333526."
