As of May 15, 2020, preclinical trials on laboratory animals began for the cell culture-based inactivated COVID-19 vaccine candidate developed at Erciyes University. The vaccine candidate’s efficacy will be tested in the vaccinated animals during the ongoing process.
In a written statement from ERÜ, it was noted that researchers at the Vaccine Research and Development Center (ERAGEM), supported by the Ministry of Health’s Turkey Health Institutes Presidency (TÜSEB) and Erciyes University, continue to work on developing two different cell culture-based vaccines against COVID-19: an inactivated vaccine and a recombinant vaccine.
